Anyway to pull engine codes without diagnostic tool?

Is there any way to pull engine light codes without using a honda diagnostic tool
Also,
Where is the EGR valve located in a EG civic 95 HB?
Is it hard to get to?
anyway to visually inspect it to see if it is working properly?

Underneath your passenger glove box on the right there is a two prong outlet that should be hanging around near your ecu.
Grab a paper clip bend it so the 2 ends are sticking out........stick the 2 ends in'to the outlet. Turn your key in the ignition and watch the CEL's the cars throw at you.

Longer paused light is ten......short CEL light is one.
Add the long to the short.
So if you get 2 long cel's and 2 short its 22.

I agree with you on that one. I've had mine for years and use it all the time. It even shows you the paper clip trick and what all the codes are. If you really want to learn about your car, pick one of these up.
