Alternator message

Just did mine on an SiR and I just wanted to let you know that it is WAY easier to unbolt the master cylinder than it is to take out the axle. That is all.

I'm guessing that your talkin about doin this in your driveway? I've never done one on a B-series, but I won a free lunch cuz I showed the electrical guy at a Canadian tire how to get the alternator out of a 92-00 civic without removing the drive shaft OR the master cylinder. On a D-series (and likely B as well) if you remove the Alternator and move it out of the way. Rest it on the exhaust works for me. Then remove the bolts for the alt. bracket and it'll give you the clearance you were lookin for by removing the shaft. Someone please correct me if this doesn't work on a B-series.

I'm pretty sure it won't work on b series. You can unbolt the bracket, but the clearance issue is between the intake man. and the fire wall. Unbolting the MC gives you that sliver more of room. But I wish it did work!

Never tried this, but I doubt it would work on a b-series

Not sure, but it can't be that hard. Best way to do it is just get in there and learn. Any specific questions, do a search or just ask. Myself, I'm not so smart, but you can learn a lot if you just do it.

removing the master cylinder is the quickest and easiest way...I replaced an alternator roadside like this...10min job and no laying on the ground
