I would also recommend replacing the timing belt and water pump if it hasn't been changed recently and the thermostat while you're at it.
The 01-05 civics are kinda bad for headgaskets failing.
You'll want to resurface the cylinder head and honda recommends using new head bolts, this is why it costs so much to properly do a headgasket job. The head bolts are like $10 or so each from honda and resurfacing typically costs $100 or so, combined with the other parts required and the 5 hours (if I remember correctly) of labour the job pays a headgasket job can get expensive quick to have done properly. Sure you could probably get away with not resurfacing the head and re-using the old head bolts, but I do not recommend this at all.

I would agree 99% with zeeman. Just don't get one thing, (and sorry for hijacking) why does Honda have different bolts for when you replace the head gasket? I understand that old bolts stretch, but they have 2 part numbers for an engine with a blown head gasket and one for not. The standard mill is like 0.0005-0.001" if I'm not mistaking, so why the difference in bolts?

Yes that is them, i seen that shop and i would not go their if i were you. How were you reffered to them? That whole complex is all really fishy with mechanic shops. Ive seen a 99-00 civic that was put together that was in 2 halves. I thought that was illegal to do.
