Unhappy Will ebay TYC projectors melt with HIDs??

I cracked my OEM lamps and had them replaced with ebay TYC projectors. Here are the exact same ones:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/TYC-H...mZ310084463644

I specifically told my mechanic I wanted my previous HIDs (from Brendan on this forum) installed with the new headlights. However, when I showed up today to pick up the car, he told me he didn't install them because the heat from the HIDs will melt the headlights.

Is he BSing me??

That Is bs because I have eBay peojectors with 6000k hid kit and its fine. The only thing is that eBay projectors use H3 bulbs [atleast mine]so you just might need different size bulbs but other than that everything will be fine.

HID bulbs heats up to a lower temperature than stock halogen ones. but thats not the problem. ur H4 hid kit wont fit in those TYCs seeing they take H1, u need to get new bulbs

Yeah I thought that hids don't reach the same temperature as halogen bulbs also. Now the hid bulbs, they aren't that expensive. You can either go to jrp, I saw them there, you could talk to the people who sell hids on kijiji call the new tcc affiliate HID Lighting.

Regular incandescent bulbs run at 55w. Brendan's HID kits run at 35w. If anything, they will run cooler than normal head light bulbs so it sounds more like someone forgot to put em in and made an excuse not to bother with them.

You also have a point there. TYC housings use H1 bulbs for the low beam. And if you were using OEM headlamps before, they indeed would be H4 bulbs so they would infact not fit the TYC housing. HOWEVER, if the mechanic's excuse was advising you not to use them because they will melt your housing is pure BUNCK!!! My previous notion as stated above sounds more likely...the dude probably forgot about it totally and just made an excuse not to put them in cause he was lazy or whatever. LOL
