Wheels Repainted. bronze
 

Wheels painted here they are took 3 1/2 hours from prep to bolting tires back on. my calipers are the same color maybe ill repaint them this weekend.

ya planning on repainting calipers now, you think blue will be okay? dark or light?

^I would leave the calipers gold if I were you. Red if anything since the car is red but to randomly have blue calipers wouldn't really flow with the car imo.

Anyways, new colour looks pretty good for the rims.

i may do another color like silver again or something to offset the bronze rims

what does imo mean again i forgot and ive been wondering since

id go with red but the bronze doesnt look bad, it matches the rims... imo means in my opinion

Doesnt look like the Duplicolour. Check Media Car Related - Lowered my EF sedan, I painted mine bronze with general rust paint, it's very durable and nearly half the price of the Duplicolour.

Hey what's up guys? this post caught my eye cuz I have white motegi mr7's and i need to repaint them white. My car is white as well, so i want ot go with the uniform look.

what paint should i use? does it need priming? what are the steps?

Ohh these wheels. you should use diplicolor wheel paint as a first option as it is mixed for wheel painting, more durable etcc... use duplicolor clear, can be bought at any Canadian tire, some locations dont have it as there ordering system is messed up so just check another location if you dont see it there.

scuff and clean the wheel with 300 grit, around there not too rough or it will scratch ur wheel up. then use a generic primer or specialty wheel primer, ive used different ones before, clear plastic primer, orangy red primer, metal primer, either is ok depending on what level of sanding your doing to the wheel, if you want it immaculate sand down to the metal, if your not crazy and all like me just scuff off the clear coat and prime.

you need to clean the wheel off especially between the crooks and nannies, for the inner wheel it doesnt matter too much but depending on how it looks you may want to sand off the inner wheel rim and paint that too but in all my wheel paints ive never done that only the outer top of the wheel face.

clean the rim off of dust with water etcc,. dry it to a perfection, NO Moisture or water left on it before you attemt to paint.

Apply 2 coats of primer, use a heat gun to aid in drying process, or air dry 10-15min,

apply base coat of your color you want, 3 complete coats, 1st coat get all the crooks and nannies, hard to reach areas from different angles move in a circular motion as you go around the wheel spraying, 2nd stage i get all the immediate parts, like the face of the spokes and outer rim. 3rd stage of coat is a pass over the whole top area of the rim, let flash [dry time] for 10 min each stage of coat or with a heat gun til you think its dry ebough.

let final base coat dry for 15-20 min

and then apply clear coat over the whole wheel including the hard to get areas, i usually do 2 or 3 stage coats as well, but not as thick as the base.

Tips - use a black agrbage bag rip it in the center in a plus sign, and tape off the tire with tape, or yopui can use index cards and jam them in a cone way aroudn the tire btw the rim and rubber.

i would recomment the bag way. cleaning and prep is the hardest part
