imported_Hybridtheory 30-Jan-2003 11:22 AM

maguires 3 step system

wash with deep crystal wash

then......

step 1: paint cleaner

step 2: polish

step 3: wax

BOND007 30-Jan-2003 11:48 AM

I perfer the 6 step

1. wash car

2. maguiars scratch x

3. paint cleaner

4 polish

5. wax

6. Showtime or equivalent

Long time , but well worth it

..Just wondering if anyone has tried NU-Finish from Can. tire - probably thinkin' I'm a cheap ass but this stuff works great for me..the wax IS probably cheap but it lasts for a long long time and shines better that when I would use like 3 mothers products and buff it in 3 stages with diff cloths..and the best part is it takes like 30 min to do the whole car with no buffing..then I just use meguiars rubber shine stuff on all exterior and interior trim, wheel cleaner for my crappy wheels and Meguiars tire shine, clean the windows and the car shines for a long time (considering I do this in the summer)...as for the best way to shine my car in the winter - pressure washer to get all that fu%en slat off!!

i think i might have a bottle of that..
bought it but never used it..i'll have a look see and see if i do..

Whiplash 30-Jan-2003 02:31 PM

Hey Bond I think the paint cleaner is step 2 and scratch x is step 3.

imported_Hybridtheory 30-Jan-2003 03:40 PM

theres enough scratch x in those lil tubes to do the whole car?

wow...

ill have to try that

cee_mon 30-Jan-2003 03:46 PM

Nu-Finish is one of the best polishes out there...I use on my car all the time. I was thinking about trying that gold class wax from meguires....but we will see. Here is my car with Nu-finish

I go after the major scrathes first then clean off the residue :D

bbarbulo 30-Jan-2003 04:31 PM

but you SHOULD clean the scratch first, then polish it out...you should really wash between each step.

imported_Joker 30-Jan-2003 06:18 PM

doesnt all the wax all go away when it rains?

Cosmic Girl 31-Jan-2003 12:58 AM

SHINEY CAR?
- Maguires Detailing Wax (didn't wash my car in weeks and look @ it in my sig after this stuff)
- Mother's Preserves
- Back to Black (if your car is black ) I don't know if they have RIGHT TO WHITE or HEAD TO RED...looks doubtful though.

*above products courtesy of Neil's recommendation*

imported_Slvr-Bullet 31-Jan-2003 03:18 AM

Good enough. :D You can do it the other way as well, just got to be more cautious not to use to much product. Or else you know what happens. I still haven't done the Jetta, maybe in spring I'll get you and the rest of the Dream Clean Team :D LOL to give me a hand. I really hate black on cars!

for like 150 bones, you can leave your car at a "enthusaist" cleaning, waxing, polishing shop
and they'll do the works on it :D

93CANDM-EGCoupe 31-Jan-2003 12:59 PM

I paid one detailing service $150 for the entire car, engine shampoo wash wax and everything and they did the worst job I've ever seen - I'll never pay anyone to do what I can just do better myself..that is if I have 8 hours to wase cleaning my car.
