What Should I Paint Next?

Well I was bored today, so I figured I'd paint the heat shield for the header. It turned out pretty good, I used the flat black VHT High Heat paint. What do you think I should paint next? I was thinking of painting the piece where it says Honda in silver....what do you guys think of black? I want my engine to look new again, so what do you guys think?

lol it would be sick if you just paint everything black, and leave the honda in silver or something

You can try and polish the valve cover. It's time consuming but worth it..

How would I do that?

bbarbulo 20-Sep-2004 09:04 AM

I don't recommend that... your car will be down for at least a week while you polish it... just throw on some wrinkle paint and call it a day. I plan to paint my whole engine and tranny all gold to match my wheels :D

This is a real quick photoshop, paint the valve cover and the catalytic converter in black. Is it hard to remove the valve cover? Any precautions I should know about? What about the catalytic converter?

where is a good place to get wrinkle paint, I was at Canadian tire the other day and they didn't seem to carry it??....

If I had money I would paint the whole block, head everything black. Lights, rims, car, tint, interior, brakes, calipers, springs, everything...all black. That would look badass.

Nova_Dust 20-Sep-2004 10:33 AM

They should have a giant tank full of black paint... just dip your whole car in it... LOL

imported_kIeRaN 20-Sep-2004 09:35 PM

paint your power steering pump mount black again, its getting rusty looking

imported_cet_civic 20-Sep-2004 09:50 PM

DoubaD 22-Sep-2004 01:22 AM

if u do take of ur valve cover
u will need to replace your valve seal.
HIGHLY recommened.
so make shure u buy that aswell
dont over tighten it when u put it back those bolts will snap
also dont use a air gun on it either.
hand tighten only.
also make sure as soon as you take off the valve cover u cover the top end with some type of cloth so nothing gets inside.
and dont paint the inside of the valve cover lol

i painted my valve cover, manifold heat shield and brackets in black a few months ago. it looks really nice and clean. for the head cover, i masked off the letters with masking tape, cut around them with a razor blade, and used a satin black paint. probably about 9 really light coats. its holding up really well, over 6 months now and not a single chip off the paint

why not just paint the whole thing and then sand the letters down.... the letters will be cleaner that way too
