From what I know is that the aftermarket harnesses are built to handle more current flow to the headlights. This way you can install true higher wattage bulbs like 80/100 watt and not melt the OE wiring. Cause if the OE bulbs are rated at 50/65 watts, then you can be damned sure that Honda would save millions by installing wiring that's built to handle only that wattage.
Higher wattage = more current = more heat = melting OE wiring...
