taking off the outside of a taillight

i want to take off the clear plastic on the taillights on my 1996 cx hb. there altezzas with chrome (silver)on the inside .cant find a good price on a dark set so i was gonna try to make my own, any suggestions. ?

cant you just throw the tail light in an oven, heat up the sealer and pop it open?

Just like the headlights

that is somthing ive heard,wasnt sure if it was true. any idea what temp and how long? dont want the house smellin like burnt plastic,lol

The ek headlights are plastic so seeing how its fine for plastic headlights, i would assume the rears could withstand the same procedure

i put mine in @ 250 deg for 15 min worked like a charm
