sunroof only working on one side

I just bought my 94 SI Coupe and the sunroof has never worked for me but the previous owner said it worked just fine. You can hear the motor going but nothing was happening, so i stripped the head liner out, turns out every single screw it loose. I tightened all of the screws, now it appears only one side of the sunroof is working. Any tips? If i dont get anything by tomorrow ill prob totally unbolt it and see if i can realign everything if its off. In order to close it i had to remove the motor and push it into place by hand.

try and re align it, but also test the motor because it could just be time to replace the one side or both if you want it to work mint since their pretty old. the other thing it could be is some sort of corrosion so check all the wires, connections, and grounds (triple check all grounds are clean) and make sure everything is good.

yeah initially i thought it might be the threaded line that goes to that side that was stripped, so i pulled it all apart about 10 minutes ago and put the motor on the line and it doesnt slip at all, so that cant be it. Ill completely take out the entire sunroof tomorrow since its supposed to be nice and ill tear it all apart and clean it out and see wtf is going on. Perhaps ill take pics and make a tutorial incase anyone else has any problems.

as a side note for everyone, if your going to tear your sunroof apart, take note of where all the plastic pieces go, haha.

i remember most of it, but theres a couple plastic pieces that dont make any sense to me. They all came out completely filled with extremely dirty grease and tree branch parts so it all looked like one part. After cleaning, it turns out they are multiple parts, haha.

Only took all ****ing day but it is back in and mostly working, due to a few spare parts. Aparently the few spare parts are the parts that push the sunroof up, as well as keeping it up while putting the sunroof back down.

Good that the weather was fairly co-operative today. It's like putting together IKEA anything...there always seems to be a few extra parts that you know should be in there somewhere. So the sunroof is working now or is there more work to be done?

it works, but to open it you have to push it up originally then it goes back all the way by itself. To close it you have to hold it up until its almost closed then you can let it go.

well, been working on it since 9am, its now 1:30, im back to where i started. I ended up snapping the front passenger side bolt off...im leaving it the way it is. If i had to work on that piece of **** for another 15 minutes i would have just smashed it on the ground and welded a piece of tin there.
