Question Stock Strob Lighting!?!?

Hey everyone,

stupid question...got a 00 ek sedan and having some trouble with the lighting on the car.

Couple months ago is when i first really noticed the problem. When the car is idling or even driving, i'm noticing that the interior lights and the exterior lights (heads and tails) are strobing slightly (going dim and bright very quickly) and its getting really annoying lol

I'm not sure what the issue could be...I'm running an 800w rockford amp and 12" sub in the back but I've had that installed over a year ago and this problem just started happening. Also, i'm a little concerned about the life of my HID with this happening becuase i know that HID doesn't like changes in voltage. Battery;s not that old either..about 3 yrs bought originally from Honda

Any feedback you could offer would be greatly appreciated. Cheers!

I'd recommend you get your electrical system a once over at a garage. A voltmeter and ampmeter will pinpoint this quite quickly.

My first thoughts on this are:
+ alternator/generator is on the way out... can't feed the whole car + battery anymore
+ could be a grounding issue... get your grounds shaved and re-seated if they're corroded.
+ excessive draw on the electricals from HIDs + amp + everything else... though you said they worked fine before, who knows.
+ battery premature failure (unlikely on a 3yr old battery... more likely that the generator isn't giving it enough juice anymore).
+ alternator pulley slipping (check tension, should be very difficult to even bend it)

If it's the alternator, I'm seeing $150-200 for aftermarket replacements online. You'll easily spend half that if you need a boost or a tow, so take it into a Midas or something while it's running

Could be as simple as bad grounds. Check over the main grounds under the hood and also get the alternator checked out.
