side moldings

Hey, i want to remove the side moldings on my 96 civic h/b so that i can paint them. I can't figure out how to do it. if anyone has done it before can you tell me how it can be done? or better yet, point me to a link with instructions.

cheers!

its too much trouble taking the moulding off, u will most likely bend one or scratch your paint. My suggestion would be to mask everything off really good and paint them on your car... Thats what i would do if i were u...

ummm, no!!

your should remove it for paint. take your door panels off and go in with your hand and release the square clips that hold it in place. in addition, there is a plastic 10 mm nut that holds the moulding at the edge of the door somewhere by the door latch.

haha i painted the mouldings on my car, without removing them...took a whole lotta newspaper...but saved me the trouble of potentially snapping a clip. . .

man i musta looked soo poverty, sitting in my garage taping my car up with newspaper . .lol and then using CT spray paint to spay it....lol but it looks good now so w/e

You can actually take them off from the outside but it does require precision.

You'll need two "flat" pieces of metal it has to be strong.. Something you use to take wallpaper off for example.

Basically, you stick them in from the top and from the bottom of the molding and squeeze the clip. You have to pull forward at the same time.

OR

Do what bbarbulo said

taking it off and painting it is always the better way.

just do it through the inside, like B said, it will save you in the end...
