Scuffed/Scratched Headlight Lens

I was rubbing some marks on my headlight with the wrong sandpaper and left some fine scuff marks on my headlight. I was wondering if there was anything I can do to fix it?

use progressively finer sandpaper and finally buff it with a compound to restore the finish. you will cause optical distortion for the light though

I scuffed it with 600. I guess I use 1000, then maybe 1200?

What compound should I use to buff? (like, what brand)

Thanks!

3M has compounds for polishing plastic, locate a 3M dealer. Also I remember there is this paste we used to use to polish cuts on plexiglass, that would be good too. Locate a place that works with plexi a lot, like a sign shop or something. Check through the yellow pages and call around. Yeah, wetsand 800, 1000, 1200, 1500 and then use the compound. Meguires plast-X works miracles too, but more for smaller jobs. You want professional grade 3M stuff for this kinda job.

Canadaian Tire also now sells this really good glass/plastic polish that works great. Used it a couple of times before. Would tell you the name etc of it, but someone took my bottle to use on thier car.
