Rust Proofing at Walmart for $**.97

Hey Guys

I was over at Walmart on Appleby Ln. yesterday (Burlington) and saw their offer of no drip rust protection / proofing service which is now available at selected locations.

Cars - $**.97
Trucks - $79.97

I will call them later tonight to check the details...looks really economical if they do a good job. Anyone had it done so far from Walmart???

If its no drip then its likely a tar based matertial which is quite useless imo because it does not soak into the metal or penetrate any hidden areas.

I live around the corner from that walmart. I also have a 99 ex sedan lol. Anyways I was going to go to krown this week on industrial drive. I probably still will because I don't trust walmart for anything. A friend of mine just quit there and said it was a real joke.

its some hardcore rubery tar stuff, and soppose to be way better than cheap oil spray.

took like 2 hrs (only 30min of actual spray time)
and cost less than krown

all u need is air

i think those are just for underbody...
at krown, we're getting rust protection all-around... so the money paid is really worth the time and material....

also, even walmart is 50 bux cheaper, i still wouldn't risk it with them, if its messed... the bodywork will cost more than that 50$ you saved...

yep i only did the underbody, and the wheel wells and supension components,

im going to do some cheap oil for the engine bay so i can easily wash it out next summer.

and im going to leave the doorjams and make sure they stay clean, cuz i hate anything in the door jams

yeah i work at walmart and i do these rust "protections" and lemme tell ya never go there to get any work done on your car. Rust forms where there are tight seems and this non drip crap doesnt penetrate any tight spots. Save your money and go to Krown

how do you spray it in the doors???

Krown is really good shiet. They pressure spray the oil into every tight seam...around the windshield etc

Haha thats funny that you think its better then the oil, let me give you an experts point of view on this, that tar based stuff only covers the SURFACE of visible areas, it does not get inside the frame rails, above the gas tank, above heats shield, inside the bumper, etc. Also the tar based may look nicer and drip less but it only sits on the surface of the metal, over the years moisture can work its way inbetween the tar and the cars underbody and completely rot it out, Ive seen it happen many time. The oil not only penetrates around 90% of the cars underbody surfaces but it also soaks into the metal over time helping to greatly reduce corrosion and ultimately rust. Another benfit of the oil is that is lubricates moving parts and keep screws and bolts from seizing, its also much nicer to work with when you have to do work under the car is it can be washed off much easier them the tar based stuff.

Sorry to tell you but oil doesnt just "wash out", especially after it has sat and soaked in for along time.
