plate covers

are the tinted licence plate covers illegal?
u know...the greyed out ones....
i never thoguht they were...
but i went to court recently (...speeding. gay.)
andthere was a guy there who i think was trying to argue the legality of his plate covers
but i cant remember wha his were like....mayeb trhey had text on it or somthing.....
can omeone help?
are they legal?

Ive heard they are...but its always left to the discrimination of the cop...Ive had both my plates covered with smoked lenses for a few years now... i guess its sort of the same idea as window tint darkness...

ya....thats the impressino i was under...
there illegal...but cops wont make a big deal about it unless ur racing around and giving cops a hard time

It is a grey area in the HTA.. so technically it is to the officer's discretion ....:cry:

well.......
my apexi exhaust is pretty fukin loud
and the green isnt the most inconspicious colour...
i guess ill just wish for luck

don't get blue ones, I've to court to argue I made a mistake by purchasing them and got off on a $ 110 ticket, there nice for show but not worth the "Heat Score" ...cops

I had a pair of blue cover like 2 years ago. The front got chipped and broken from road stones and whatnot, so I put the rear one on the front. Same result.

So I stop buying them.

I've had the "smoked" plate covers for a couple years now and have had absolutely no problems with cops. Didn't they even used to sell these things at the Ministry of Transportation offices (where you go to get your license and stuff)??? I swear that I've seen them there before, but maybe they were just normal clear plate covers...

I think that it's really up to the police officer and if they're having a bad day or whatnot.
