Painting your fender
So i was thinking about painting my driver side fender as it's flat black.
How off will the job be with the rest of the car?
If its going to be REALLY bad might just keep it flat black but if it can improve it for temporary i'll just do it ( since paint job is going in next spring)
Probalby will grab OEM paint from carquest or whoever
and do the usual
I"m thinking 2-3 layers of paint
and 3-4 layers of clear coat should do the job?

I used BASF Diamont line from carquest.....its pretty good with colour match. Very easy to shoot....i shot 3 coats base, 1 mist 2 wet and 2 wet coats of clear as per the tech sheets. The clear was a high-solids clear; i've been reading that 2 coats should be more than sufficient if your not gonna do a heavy cut and buff.
The jobber Tom @ carquest (awesome btw) recommend to polish the rest of the car to bring up the shine....colour matching wasn't really the issue, the new gloss was completely overpowering the rest of the car lol
If your doing 4 coats of clear....i hear you can shoot 2, let it cure for 48hrs-cut with 1500/2000-leave out in sun to gas-off, shoot 2 more coats of clear and that would bring up the shine dramatically....then do your cut and buff for the show car shine.

if your gonna be spray bombing the sucker...i would wait for the repain t then!! It will cost you more on rattle cans to do a 3 coat coverage with clearcoat just to have it stripped for the repaint....whereas it'd only cost the painter like $80 in material to do a panel like that.

so u think someone woudl probably just paint it for $80 bucks eh?
cause i wasn't sure how much it would cost me
i just might wiat till end of winter, ghetto ride it throguh winter hehe
cause i got small rust developing so iw as gonna sand it out
for now and protect it for the winter before the repaint
