Painting/rough surface
Was helping out a friend on the weekend painting some plastic ****. Now the plastic is smooth, not textured. After putting on a few coats of the paint we noticed that it was a little rough. Didn't think much of it because we thought when the clear coat was put on it'd smooth it out. NOPE. Still kinda rough.
How do you get it smooth like say the exterior of the car? For example, I got my side view mirrors painted and they are smooth.
Do we need to sand it down with VERY fine sand paper between clear coats?

yep
when painting anything its all about how much time you put in
its a good idea to sand it down with finer and finer sand paper after the coats get thicker and right before your clear coat to sand it down with something fine and then bush before applying clear coat. with your exterior paint they use air tools so an air brush can give you the same effect and buff the thing to make it smooth and shine...btw. what pieces are you painting? interior plastics?
