painted my calipers! lol

hey guys, just painted my calipers on my EJ8 to red...

i think it came out pretty well! i used the Dupli-colour kit from crappy tire...

the instructions said that it's enough paint to paint 4 calipers...i only painted two since i only have two lol but i have around 90% of the paint left...

so...i dont know if i didnt use enough? lol cuz a few friends are gonna come over n paint their calipers red with my leftoever paint since i barely used any, assuming it'll be the same for them lol...

oh and i painted only the calipers...which is the point, but i've seen some ppl paint the entire like..thing there lol pad with calipers, like the whole thing lol...i thought that'd look kinda weird so just stuck to calipers since i'd have to change pads later anyway...

i didnt remove the brake pads cuz i had no idea how to...there are two bolts on the backside of the calipers, one on upper side n one on the bottom, but they were pretty rusted, so i couldnt remove them...dont even know if they are the bolts to remove, anyway...i'm sure it woulda come out better if i removed the brake pads, but as for "looks" it looks pretty clean to me, from the outside, looks like i painted it properly haha upon closer inspection(removing tire and looking closely at the caliper lol) u can tell i just taped around it haha...but eh, all is good.

anyway, here are some pics...

alrite...i painted everything...haha i even painted the pad in the middls...agh...whatever the pad needs to be changed so i was too lazy to tape it up, so i'm gonna paint it when i change the brake pads, gonna take off the calipers and paint the rest of it properly haha...

ah well...lessons learned lol

well...i dont drive hard lol i dont brake hard(i dont think i do lol)...hmm...why will it start flaking? like the whole thing? cuz if the part where i painted the pads starts flaking, i understand that lol but will the whole thing start to chip off? cuz i've met a few ppl who used the dupli colou rkit n said they had no problems but just had to repaint it like after 6 months or so...

looks good, but now that the shim is painted too it looks weird i would've left that part silver and the rest of the black stuff painted red...

what's wrong with the brake pads are they already worn? it hasn't even been a year, so you must do some CRAZY braking!

i don't know what some of you are talken about but i like it bettter with the whole thing painted.... didn't look right before..... this way it stands out more... which is the purpose of painting calipers red... lol

one question.... do your cross drilled rotors rust in the holes???

those ones shouldn't, they're coated... the only place they can rust is where the pad scraps the rotor, but that part is continually swept clean...

hmm...mangg yea i liked it better the way i had it originally lol looked REALLLY clean...now it looks better fromfar but up from close it looks messed up lol...yea i think the pad is like chipping or something, i dunno...but i'm gonna take the calipers off anyway and paint it properly on thursday...

yea there is some rust in the holes of the rotors...would this cause a big problem? cuz i figured i wouldnt have to change them since crossdrilled usually dont warp? lol...

hmm i dunno if i brake hard lol i dont drive hard thas for sure lol i dont really drive fast either lol but htere have been several instanfces where i've had to slam on the brakes on the highway n such lol...

hold on...in the pic, the part in the middle ofthe brake, the thing that is almost a full circle, is that part of the brake pad? cuz the tip of that on the right, that part is chipping...i'm assuming that is the pad...i didnt wanna paint that...but looked weird painting everything BUT that one circle part lol...hmmm...

that's not the pad, that's the shim that backs the pad...

but still why do you need new pads i'm curious? lol

ya it does seem like there's some rust... meh... still less rust than others i've seen lol

lol i'd do the calipers AND the carriers too... but NOT the shims...

basically the entire back of the pad i'd leave the way it was... but that's just me lol... personal preference...
