Paint Price for GRILL?

I asked Julie for a quote on a paint price for an aftermarket grill and she said 80 bucks.. Just for the grill whereas my lip is a bit over 100..

She said something about a special primer.. Anyone know anything about this? That seems a bit steep...It's just a plain white unpainted grill, nothing special.. (I haven't bought it yet, but wanted to get some pricing).. I haven't had too much time to talk to her yet just thought I ask you folks.

*coughs* Nope, never heard of a special primer...

If you REALLY wanna prime it go ahead.. but you can goto CDN TIRE and spend 40$ including clear coat and do it yourself...

Thats what I plan on doing soon as the weather clears up a tad.

Regards,
OK

Paint work is generally pretty tricky - but you would have to be a half-stoned retarded monkey to screw this paintjob up.

Go to CT - get some paint and some clear coat and do it yourself. The results will be the same on something like a grill and you can save yourself atleast half of that quoted price. Serious - $80... pay me $40 and I'll paint the dam thing.

Maybe I will put it off then for a while.. Pick it up when I have a bit more cash!

I would paint and install my own lip, but I don't have the slightest idea how to install the sucker.. I'd rather get something like that done properly!

Hey man - I was the same as you ... until I SAW then install my front lip.

Double-sided tape and two screws... F@#$ - I could have done that (and have been since that day) Somethings you just need to take a stab at...if you mess it up then get the 'pros' to clean it up.

ya Shokker, give it a stab like happy said, since it's not a piece which will make the undriveable if you screw up.

I was thinking of going to SpoilersTO because they seem to know their stuff.. I doubt they'll mess it up. My only problem is that there are no stock holes on my bumper and there are no stock holes on the lip either.. so I am completely lost..

me too. i'm gonna do this and also the ghetto-DIY-mesh mod

serious, it can't be that hard to prime/paint a grill to look decent, if u want it to last forever etc then yea, the pro's can handle that.

I've got the ghetto DIY mesh right now. The problem is that the grille is chrome stock, and you can't really paint chrome. I want it to be the same colour as my car.
