I don't know why you would rent by hour because you need a good dry so like a day's worth of drying for good results

if you paint it at home out side or in your garage yes. a booth speeds up the time as it bakes the paint. i dont see it taking anymore then 5hrs. prep, mask off the vehivle, wash and tack it paint your base, paint your clear and bake.

if your a noob then ya its gonna be way cheaper for you to just get it done.

the place in hamilton your were taking about is rent-a-bay.

you can rent the bays with or without hoists and tools etc.. i dunno if there in business anymore tho. try looking them up for other locatiuons aswell.

IMO if you want a decent DIY paint job, grab your materials and wait for a day summer day and wake up early in the morning and start your prep work and masking of the vehicle. then come lunch time wash it and tack it and start laying the paint. you would want to wait a bit for the base to cure (which is pretty much instant) after your base coats have been all layed out go over the car again with another tack cloth before applying your clear. wait for your recomended times for flashing and or recoats as per product instructions.

this can be done in a garage or even outside. if you wanna limit the bugs for wet sanding out tho its best you grab yourself a car tent.

thats just my 2 cents tho.

also i say a good 80% -90% of the finish goes to the prep work, so if you havent done it before and wanna give it a try. do your research and practice on something before hand.

you can use trmclad as it has more anti corrosion properties, but you typically would want to use automotive paint. any of the ones at canadian tire are fine. if you want to match a specific color to your car you will need to get it custom mixed, except if your buying the small tiny cans at can tire for like 10 bucks. they may have your car color.[ur paint color can be find the inside of the drivers door, my car is red, and the code says R-81-4]
