Moonroof Question

Hey everyone, I've been thinking about moonroofs or sunroofs or whatever they call it. I just basically want one that has the glass that slides into the car along with a sliding piece that blocks the sun when I don't want it. Was wondering if anyone knew of any good places for installs, I want good quality, no cheap stuff thats gonna die or leak on me within a year or two. Also if anybody has any idea how much it would cost that would be great.

Thanks,
D-T

Would you want it to be Power or Manual, David? Talk to Slvr-Bullet (Steve I think his name is). He got an aftermarket sunroof installed. Actually, post it here, I'd be interested in how much it cost and stuff..

Ok, stupid classmates arguing over what the difference between the Sunroof and the Moonroof. What is it? Is the one I want a moonroof or a sunroof?

800 installed eh, that doesn't sound too bad. Gotta go and check out Daltz honda to see how much it is there.

Of course I want a powered one, no manual stuff.

Sam: I'm gonna turn my car into an SiR! muahahaha

So gonna wait till slvr-bullet reads this post and see his response.

Lets see, Moonroof or rims?? what you guys think??

Did someone call??
Yes I got an aftermarket electrical moonroof about 2yrs ago and have had no leaks or any kind of problems with it. I got it done at a place called:

Automotive Sunroof Company
595 Middlefield Rd., Units 11 & 12
Scarborough, Ontario
M1V 3S2
(416) 299-8400
http://www.autosunco.com

They actually do dealership installs, so I knew that it'd be very good quality in material and workmanship. The sun/moonroofs that they install are from an american company call American Sunroof Company (ASC).

Now hold on It cost me $1380.00 for everything (tax in) and I had to leave my car there for about 2 days if I can remember correctly. I don't regret spending that much on the moonroof because I just love having it open during those sunny summer days.

Now if you live in Mississauga there's one there also:

AUTOMOTIVE SUNROOF COMPANY
5280 Creekbank Road
Mississauga , ON L4W 1N4
Phone Number: (905) 625-4567

Now since my car is a hatch I thought I could only get the ones that come out of the car (like a mini roof wing ) but the sales guy said that it's possible to get the actual moonroof where the glass slides between the interior lining and the exterior roof. That was great because I think the other ones look flimsy. You also get to retain the interior dome light.

Anyways, here's some pics. Oh yah, people have said that it looks totally stock but as you know, hatches (6th gens) don't have an option for a sun/moonroof.

Bring your car to the meet next wed. I'd like to see the craftsmanship with my own eyes, if that's possible. Thanks.
I also want to ask you some other things about the sunroof.

work is top notch. 90efhb has had his for 9 years and not so much as a leak.

Highly recommended.

Make sure no one "learns" on your car

and all should be well

If you're referring to me, I'll try and make it out. Since I work night shift it's hard for me to do so

Yes I believe I was also asked to comment on the ASC work...
I had a 90 Civic and had the install done....They shops are all individually operated so be careful which you choose. I also got it done by the group at the 401 and morningside. Excellent work. And yes they do leather work, wings, and sunroof installs for a lot of dealerships....ie toyota honda etc. You can drop by and they will give you a tour. It takes about 2 to 3 days to complete and all the guys have mionimum 10 years experience on installations.
My mom now has my old civic and its been fine for 10 years. I could try and bring the car by one wednesday if you want?
