Red face Looking for replacement spolier light for 2000civic SIR (help a sister out hehe)

Hi Guys...I'm the new girl on the block ;-)
I FINALLY got my hands on a Civic SIR (been wanting one FOREVER now)...it's only a 2000 but it'll do the job for now till I can upgrade...i bought it with MODS already done to engine but I have LOTS of questions about it, I wouldn't know where to start!! I'm already having probs with engine reving while idling, drivers door handle/latch busted and won't even open anymore (from neither inside or out) and then just simple **** hopefully like needing to replace spoiler light as half of the LEDs are burnt out.
I'm really hoping for some valuable and knowledgeable advice from you guys so looking forward to chatting and learning more about my SiR!
Thanks :-)

Welcome.
Do you have a good mechanic to service & maintain your car ?
There many great Honda shops around the GTA. Whereabouts are you located ?
Also, post some pics of the car when you get a chance.
Just a word caution, not to scare you but the civic SiR 99-00 are very prone to theft.

Agreed, I'd get your self some anti theft lugs and a decent alarm system, I suggest a 2 way (adding a remote starter to that wouldnt hurt either)

Anyways Welcome!!

As for your problems, you'll need to be a bit more indepth with them, individually of course and like Robb said, need to get a good mechanic... HIGHVELOCITY seems like they know what there talking about in regards to everything to do with civics. You'll see them around here a lot. and once again, Welcome!

Oh yeah... www.spoilerlights.com
you can probably find it cheaper if you look harder... scrap yard maybe

it actually apparently does have a VIPER alarm installed (from few yrs ago) but it has been disengaged it seems?? previous owner said it may just require re-programming via key fob but man I researched it forever online and had no luck trying to sort it out :-(
thanks for link to spoilers! supposed to be checking out junkyard today actually too.

I doubt it will do damage to the engine. Poor or high idle could be many things:

- bad ignition timing
- bad 02 sensor (usually a stumbling idle)
- vaccum line leak
- Bad Fuel Injector(s)
- Faulty or Dirty IACV (Idle Air Control Valve)
- idle adjustment screw is stuck
- grounding problem
- loose alternator belt
- could be a worn Thermostat causes the car to run cold/rich
- Lastly, have you got a FITV (Fast Idle Thermo Valve) under the throttle body?
If you do, it may need to be reset. The plastic threaded part inside backs off.
here's a link: FITV Fix

Like I said the bad idle could be anything. Good Luck
PS: Mods being done to the engine worries me a bit though.. what kind of mods ??

Thanks Robb but jezzz I'm not too sure bout at least 3/4 of what you listed off hehe but i do appreciate the possibly causes and will pass it along to the dude supposed to be helping me out.
As far as MODS of what I know right now (as clearly I'm not a mechanic n this is all quite new to me hehe) just cold air intake and DC headers.

Welcome to the club and welcome fellow 2000 SiR driver.

Couple things to think about: an alarm system usually isn't enough if the thief really wants your car, it's gone. I suggest a hidden fuel pump cut-off switch. All you do when you park your car is flip the switch off. They can break into your car and try to start it until the battery dies....it ain't gonna start! It's a simple yet extremely effective anti-theft system that, imo, works better then an alarm and costs next to nothing to do.

Also, what kind of mods have already been done to the car? It sounds like it's had a rough life... How many km's on it?

Next to a type-R civic (which wasn't/isn't available in Canada), the 99-00 SiR was/is the fastest bone stock civic you could/can buy (next to the new Si). So, just trying to figure out why, in your 1st post, you say "it's only a 2000, and it'll do for now...". lol

LOL if a 2006 Si is your dream car, your probably a very grounded person.
Looks like you got a vacuum leak if your car is revving while idling, oh and you can get the spoiler lights from Crappy Tire for like 8 bucks.

Ahh, I see. To tell you the truth, I'm not a big fan of the newer civics (8th gen, 2006+ Si). They do have 197hp, but since they are bigger than a mid-90's accord and have put on several hundred pounds of weight, the performance differences between the 8th gen Si and 99-00 SiR isn't that significant. So don't feel like your 'settling' for the older type. hehe.

IMO, there are a lot of things on the older 'ek' or 6th gen civics that is still better then what you get on a newer civic. For example, double wish bone front suspension (instead of macphearson strut), solid steel shifter linkage (instead of cables), multi-link rear suspension (non strut type), lighter-weight chassis...the list goes on.

I've done a lot to my SiR, mostly performance mods. Great thing about these cars is the abundance of oem/aftermarket parts available and ease of tunability.

lol yeah i've def gotten that before...i am a purrrty simple girl i suppose n just have always had it bad for the Civic si (the 1st Fast & Furious is what set my mind i'd say hehe)...but dun get me wrong i could dream even bigger if i stepped outta the Honda zone so dun tempt me hehe...

I actually tried CT for it but they originally sold me the wrong lights..they tried selling me separate bulbs but I need to replace the whole strip of LEDS dun i??

Ok and then you get another point of view : Alot of the EK's now a days expecially Si-R's are beat on, they are old, nearing the 10 year old mark, RUST, expensive to insure and even more than the new Si, Easily a high risk theft vehicle (the worry to some people isn't worth it)! +++++

Si = TORQUE LOL not much but more than 107 (Si-R), Interior is far superior to any of the EK's interior's, WARRANTY!, And lets face it the new Si handles better than the 99-00 Si-R ,stock - stock hands down. Mac or wish a proper suspension setup on either suspension system can be had. Another thing, K>B lets face it, K's are newer, respond well to bolt on's, more power stock etc etc. Now IMO the new civic's look better than the EK Si-R's.

I had an Si-R, if I had a choice id take the new Si hands down.
