looking for a mildly stylish front bumper.. my stock is cracked

Hi folks, i've been going nuts trying to find a bumper for my car. The stock one is okay, but I wouldn't mind finding one with a bit more flare to it...but I also don't want anything that looks like it came out of a horror film... i see some civics with bumpers which are to 'in ur face', and I don't like that.

Anyone have any good websites? Also, what's the diff. between polyurethane and fiberglass?

Thanks

$1200 for a front bumper for a guy who's complaining about failing an e-test.... not likely

if you must have a nasty cheapo bumper, I guess C-west 'style' bumpers are your best bet. different, but not hideous.

I'll never understand why people feel the need to be negative. If you have nothing good to say, than don't say anything at all.

I'm not a Fan of after market bumpers, but its your car, so its up to you what you choose.

as for the poly/fiber. I think poly will bend more if you hit something and fiberglass will crack.

I would advise getting a front lip instead, as its cheaper and still does the job really good. a mugen or type r!

Fiberglass bumpers, especially aftermarket ones from generic companies (not vis racing etc.) tend to be very fragile. That is, they break easily if you hit a curb. Here are more disadvantages to fiberglass bumpers in general:

- poor fitment
- highly proned to paint chips

FRP (Fiberglass reinforced plastics) are a little bit stronger, but they also chip easily, and can give you a heck of a time to make it fit, if the bumper is not from a reputable source.

Polyurethane bumpers are a lot stronger, but due to its chemical properties and the cost associated with the creation of the mold, bumpers that are made out of urethane are usually confined to a few select styles (eg. buddy club, black widow). Polyurethane bumpers are the best choices for a front bumper because of its ability to withstand light impacts.

The downsides to urethane bumpers are, however:

- expensive (usually $100-$200 more than its fiberglass counterparts)
- great fitment, but this usually means you need to take off your front reinforcement bar
- confined styles

I hope that helps in your decision to purchase either a FB or Urethane bumper.

Wow... thanks for all the tips. I was looking at a wings west bumper..something very similar to my stock, but now that you mentioned I might have to remove my reinforced bar, i'm re-thinking that decision.

As for getting a front lip, that was my plan, until I cracked my stock bumper. That's why i'm evaluating all my options right now.

A brand name bumper, like that offered by Wings West, should fit on to your car without having to modify the rebar in any way. The more radical ones (and especially those coming from a less reputable company) like R34, Buddy Club might require the removal of your rebar.

Buddy Club happens to be a very reputable company, and it does not make any EK front bumpers. The bumpers you see are all "Buddy Club" Style, made by the same el cheapo companies in China and Taiwan that are churning out all these miracle products. When your budget for R&D is at a grand total of $0, what can you possibly expect from the fitment. At least these bumpers don't pose much of a threat to safety. I can't imagine what people think when they buy el cheapo coilovers.
