Unhappy lights no worky :(

i hope you guys can help me with this....
ok, so my running lights stopped working last summer, i replaced the relay for that.
btw, i have a ef si hatch...

the lights worked again but for about a week then died again. i already checked for shorts, and there isn't anything shorting out.... since then i've wired in a seperate switch which i got from radioshack, to the main lights, so i don't have high beams unless i wire another switch or get a 3-way or somethin.... anyways, im gettin annoyed with having to use the seperate switch and was wondering what the problem could be??

faulty relay? if so how can i check it?
or just the oem light switch? if so how do i check that?

any help is greatly appreciated!

angryasian.

using the wiring diagram from like a helms or chilton or haynes manual, you would check for power at the relay, then check power from the switch to the relay, check the fuses, wiring (continuity test), etc etc. I had a problem in my ef, my lights would turn off when I turned the ignition and lights on.... no ignition, just lights... they worked. turned out to be the daytime running light relay.
