Led map & plate light?

So ok i am planning on converting my stock map light and plate light to led and was wondering if i could use some existing white led's i have at home?

i dont not know what time of leds they are the actually a head lamp flash light theres seven of them and the are dome shaped look like standard led's... the current head lamp set up runs on 3x AAA batteries i know thats a total of 4.5 volts and they leds come out pretty damn bright dont know if any of this info helps just hoping i can use them for my map lights and license plate light cuz i hate the dingy yellow lights now... and i have another headlamp with 7 leads so i'm thinking maybe i can use seven for my map light and seven for my plate ?

PLEASE ILLUMINATE ME :D
Thanks, Lee

your car is running at 12.2V off and 14.4 V on.

Your electronics SHOULD only draw as much power as they require, though I'm not sure how a Light Emitting Diode works. I do know if I held small LED's 1.5V to a 9V battery they would be super bright before burning out seconds later.

Good luck!

Aw okay did not know that, i thought they lights were running constant at 12v. Yeah I figured i'd try them out. I plugged them into my car they did exactly that turned on were really bright for like a second then burn't out... *sighs* Guess i'll have to buy higher volt ones because i guess those ones were only like 1.5v or buy a resistor to put into the circuit.
