HELP NEEDED: 2001 1.7EL / Civic sedan taillight removal
 

Hey everyone, I'm in desperate need of some help here. My co-worker has a 2001 1.7EL and we're replacing the outer passenger taillight on it. I thought it would be similar to my 93 Si with only requiring the removal of 3 bolts -- which it mainly is -- but there's an additional screw or something on the bottom that I can't seem to access.

Does anyone have any experience taking these taillights out? I really could use some help ASAP.

hey Ryan....what's shakin' pal..

i'm gonna assume the EL is comparable to the Civic Sedan..

as you said, there are 3 nuts you remove..
manual says to remove back bumper..
behind the bumper (at the bottom of the lens) are 2 more nuts you need to pull (ya, not what ya wanted to hear...sorry)

nuts are re-torqued to 4 lbf-ft.

Marty, you are the man. Thanks to you and Bruno for the replies. I had a feeling after looking at the diagram online that it would require removing the bumper... definitely what I didn't want to hear.
