ok so here's my problem. i have a 98 si coupe power everything. when i go and pull the button up to bring the window up it does so but stops about a half an inch too short, and when i try to pull the button to bring it up some more the window just keeps hopping on the track. i took the door panel apart and couldnt really see what was wrong. i saw the gear that brings up the window and the arms but couldnt really see what was wrong. so please any help here would be greatly appreciated.

Try to assist the window to move up while pressing the up button or ask a friend to help you do it. If the window goes up properly the tracks & gears needs lube.

Probably need a window regulator.

Does the window go up and down smoothly before it stops? Or does it move very slow and get cought on things?

it moves perfectly up and down until it reaches the very top about a half inch away from being completely closed

you need to change your track as well as the weatherstrip around the door. your track IS bent from the weatherstrip. if you just change the track you will have the same problem
