differences from 2/3 Door and 4 door.

Does anyone know what the differences are between the 92-95 civic hatch mirrors and the 92-95 civic 4door mirrors..

bbarbulo 10-Feb-2004 10:27 AM

other than the fact they are different and DO NOT interchange? :D

imported_chindian 10-Feb-2004 10:34 AM

but vy.. but vy don't dey match!!!
i could try it myself but i'm too lazy.. so can't someone just tell me?

yO 10-Feb-2004 10:47 AM

imported_gatherer 10-Feb-2004 11:21 AM

they do not match period.

bbarbulo 10-Feb-2004 11:23 AM

mounting base is different

imported_chindian 10-Feb-2004 11:46 AM

i would have preferred a 2 page in-depth analysis of why but the reasons above will suffice.. Thanks!

imported_gatherer 10-Feb-2004 12:01 PM

ok here's why..

Once a long long time ago, way back in 1990 or 1991 when they started designing these cars. The engineers had a huge say in what happened and how parts were made. alot of the time they would lose battles to the designers (artsy fartsy types) and the accountants (the penny pinchers in this story) well the engineers came up with a brillant strategy to will a decisive battle against the evil designers that like to make everything look good but rarely care about function. so the engineers built a door that could be used on the 3 door hatchback the designers wanted a 2 door coupe as well. so the engineers fet up with the demands of the designers took a 3 door hatch back and added a trunk. the designers came along and made it "look good"

The accounted then came by and saw 3 different cars the 4 door which was a natural progression off the 4 door 4th gen and the 3 door hatchback which was a natural progression of the 4th gen hatchback were already approved but this new design this 2 door coupe was not and so they were going to quash the design... the engineers having toiled so hard to do this work took the accountants aside and told them that the coupe was really a 3 door hatchback with way too much input from the designers... they costs could be saved using the same doors as the hatch and the same mirrors as well as the same seats and stuff... the accountants were pleased they could introduce a new model to gain more ground int he market while saving costs...

AND THATS WHY !!! you happy now??? :p

/\
hahhhaaha you have alot of time on your hands dont you? :D

imported_chindian 10-Feb-2004 01:01 PM

that's not a good reason..

i'm looking for things like:

"well the base of the 4 door mirror is shorter than the base of the 2/3 door mirror."

or

"the angle of the base is more extreme on the 2/3 door"

or

"the coupe/hatch is 3 bolt whereas the 4 door is 4 bolt"

or

"the sedan mirrors are built by the americans and you know they think they're so smart so they didn't need the design plans but the coupe and hatch ones were built here in Alliston, ONT"

....

imported_gatherer 10-Feb-2004 01:10 PM

well the " it doesn't fit" is the best your going to get .. but I did like my creative story

bbarbulo 10-Feb-2004 02:34 PM

Ok buddy, you are seriously cracked in the head...

you must have had a pretty tough time understanding - the round object goes in the round hole, square object in the square hole, star shape in the star-shaped hole, and the triangle in the triangular hole.

2/3 door mirrors have rounded bases, the 4 door ones have pointy bases. One does NOT fit the other. You can swap bases if you were so inclined, but it seems to me you are not inclined for much of anything.

imported_chindian 10-Feb-2004 02:50 PM

so what are you really trying to say? :p
thanks for the answer, my head has no cracks.. nothing leaks
