daytime running lights

i wanna disconnect my day time running lights on my 91 civic.......i wanna do this b/c i hate them and jsut wanna run my corners alone instead of having the damn lights on all the time.......how do i do this?

imported_~ILLEST CIV~ 29-Apr-2004 09:21 PM

i dunno if it would be the same.....but supposedly it'z illegal....or something but i've heard on EK'z that there is a DRL fuse that u just pull out.......and u can just turn ur lights on to the first postion...and ur side corners will just go on as well as ur back tail lights but not ur actual headlights....

coreyhayman 29-Apr-2004 09:24 PM

^^^^^^ ya thats what im wanting to do...i fdun care if its illegal cuzz hoew can it b, tons of cars dont come equipped with it

zeeman 29-Apr-2004 09:41 PM

I think that its cars 1990 and up have to be equiped with DRL's. I know that when i brought my 1995 civic into canada i had to get DRL's put in. But i tore it back out after i got my car certified to be in Canada.

Same here, I've never been hassled because of it, I see lots of cars post 90 without them. I took out the module cause it looked ugly in my engine bay.

5th gens have a fuse you can pull that only controls that circuit so its easy... but 4th gens do not from what i've been told... so iguess you'd have to find some other way... just go nuts with some wire cutters eventually they'll go out

coreyhayman 29-Apr-2004 10:18 PM

haha i dont wanna start cutting wires and butcher my lights...lol...

AHHHH HAHAHA it's soo true man...there has to be a way to beef that thing up, without spending money on a new horn all together. . .

redline_vtec 05-May-2004 01:54 PM

be glad u guys have a horn!!!!

The G2 Racer 05-May-2004 03:20 PM

It's a fuse. That's all I pulled in my EG, took 2 seconds.

With the countless times I got pulled over I got no problems from have no DRLs and my high beams still worked.

hydrocivic 13-May-2004 10:25 PM

same with me, i don't have my DRL hooked up and i don't have a problem with the cops about it....

Cynikal.Mindset 14-May-2004 12:20 AM

yea...I did it and it works fine...I guess on the old Si there was another problem that caused the high beams not to work
