Coin op protocol

Love the coin op. Juts started using it. Little worried about the power rinse on the paint!

Any hints/ideas that you folks use. Thanks...

High pressure is fine...I dont think its that strong to do damage. To be safe dont hold it close to the paint I guess.

My Coin-Op method:

1) Just the minimun amout of money to start it up...
2) High pressure rinse the whole car.
3) Foming brush the car till time expires. Continue to foam brush after time runs out. (there's still lots of foam)
4) Just the minimum amout to start it back up.
5) High pressure rince soap off.
6) High pressure Wax
7) If there's time spot free rinse.

All done....Its better this way I find. Better then throwing lil bit of coin in to keep the time going. Dont get your moneys worth that way.

I dunno my method depends on the kind of cleaning i'm doing, if it's not filthy, i put all my money in at once, because it's 3 bucks for 5 min but then another dollar gets you like 3 more min etc, it doesn't work on an even scale, if it's not that dirty and i don't have to scrub then i just put all my money in right away, you get more minutes that way, if it's dirty i do what jaysi said,

sometimes i used degreaser on the rims, and tire cleaner, depending on time, but if you use these make sure you put them on in the beginning and let them soak, then i presoak the car, clean off the foam brush, brush the car, then when the car is clean i do the rims (don't want dirt/grease from the tires getting on my paint) then i spray down with high pressure soap, then i rinse...... sometimes i use the spray wax, but i haven't bothered much latley it doesn't seem to work too well, but if i have extra time then wax for sure! Yeah i think it's better to have high pressure water than to go through a touch car wash, it's not strong enough to do actual damage to the paint, but if you hold it too close it takes paint that has rust under it off.. lol i learned the hard way on my friends old beater, lol but dont' ask, i'm sure your BMW won't have that problem ever!

HAHAHA and i just love this icon

Yeah, I just keep in going on an as-needed basis. Don't let the time run out...And rinse the brush before using it...rocks in there can really screw up your paint!

I don't even use the brush, I've seen it ruin paint before (even after it's been rinsed) and sometimes it leaves bad swirl marks.

i think ALOT of people (myself included @ times) use the brush to clean brake dust, tar, and grease from thier wheels and sometimes rinseing it doesn't get it clean enough... unfortunatly you may not realize it until after you've finished washing the car...

i like the coin op for getting the mud and salt off... if you want a 1/2 decent clean just to get the salt and gunk off, and are picky about stuff touching your car, try the touchless @ C/T mavis/britania... you don't have to drive over anything either (ie: stuff that dents your oil pan, scratches your rims, cracks your skirt etc. ) and nothing but soap water and air touch the vehicle... basic wash is like 5 bux, and if you want the bottom pressure washed its like 7bux

How do you wash a car without touching it ?

I have not found a touchless that could make a clean car clean....

Is that with or without gas purchase?
and i honestly haven't had a problem with the brush, as long as you don't push too hard, then you shouldn't scratch your paint, if you don't use the brush how do you get some of the really stubborn dirt off then? sometimes the pressure just doesn't cut it?

unfortunatly the car doesn't get clean if you don't use the brush, i just use the coin op to get mud, gunk, and salt off, and then use the highway drying method... touchless car washes won't get your car super clean either it's just an alternative to the coin op for those in fear of scratching the car

if you're really hardcore, bring a wash mit and a bucket and soap the the coinop, and shampoo it down yourself to make it clean, but then you dont' really need the coin op and you can just do it in your driveway! , yeah touchless sux, it gets the big chunks of dirt of but never cleans properly,
imagine taking a shower but not washing at all just spraying water on yourself, how clean would you be?

i agree that the wash brush is brutal on the cars finish - just imagine the last guy scrubbing his wheels and wheel wells or dirty, greasy truck (which i have done) and then u are dragging all that over your beautiful clearcoat - you might as well be using sandpaper - its enough to make a real Honda enthusiast cry!!!

touchless carwashes only work if you had your car completely spotless before the snow/salt/sand hit the road and if you do it super regularly. like every 3 or 4 days... otherwise, it's just a waste of cash... i did a touchless after like 3 weeks of snow/salt, and the car looked clean, but still had an entire layer of dirt...

i only use the coin op during winter....... when its WAY too cold to stand on your driveway and wash your car.....

but come summer, ill wash my car the second it gets dirty by hand

nothing beats the shine of a hand washed/waxed car
