C/F Hood & Hood Pin's
#2
i would recomend using hood pins just because when i had mine on without hoodpins, i was told of stories of the cf hoods (being lighter in weight) that they come flying up smash the windshield, i was scared of that happeneing so i put in hood pins

ive heard stories of cf hoods coming off also. The place that i bought it from installed it for me for free, but they wouldnt install it without hoodpins for liability purposes.
Also, without hoodpins, u may find ur hood fluttering on the highway which is pretty scary. I personally like the look of them.

my cf hood is on really tight, can't even stick my fingers in between the gaps ... i drive on the highway alot and i have never seen it shake, move, or vibrate ... i do have hood pins but i'm not planning to use them ... i have a VIS racing hood and had no problems with it ... the hood is vented (lancer evo style), maybe that's why it stays on at high speeds? ...

I put the hood on today and it's on pretty tight. Doesn't shake much. Took it for a drive on the highway and it vibrate's very little to none. I'm gonna leave the pins off unless it becomes a legal issue.
Thanks Guys!

have hood pins if u have c/f hoods
1) the c/f hood is sooo light that it can fly up and smash during high speed... hood pins will help secure it
2) it is also a nice looking thing on your hood (there are people using hoodpins even without a c/f hood to just add some flavor to the car)

The only reason cf hoods fly up is due to poor construction. Either the latch area cracks and breaks off or the area around the hinges are tightened to much and it cracks with the same bad ending.

if you want a picture with pins, look at my sig. That is a cf hood with pins, I love the pins because you can pretty much control the fender gap with the hood (height wise) to make it flush....

you know, I've heard of these hoods flying up, but I've never ever... ever seen any pics of it. I challenge you guys to find pics of these magical flying hoods I'm not saying it's not possible, I'm saying it could be a result of 1. extreme stupidity by the installer where the hood didn't latch or 2. a hood so crapy in quality that it ripped the latch. I'd love to see some pics!!

Quality comes first guys. Your OEM hood can fly off too if the latch was made poorly. It is not the weight that makes it flop, it is the way the hood was made.
Just drive your car with your hood half closed, and see if it flops? Oh I guess it won't cause it is heavy!
