anyway to get rid of heavy rock pitting on the plastic headlight lens?

i had some moisture starting in my EL headlights so i decided this would be the perfect time to paint them gun metal grey (CTR look) as well as try to clean them up.

my left headlight lens is heavily pitted, but my right side is ok (car was in an accident before i got it, so i guess they went much newer for the right side, who knows)

so is there anyway to clean them up? i mean like remove the pitting, perhaps light wet sanding?

i'll post a pic after i get the paint started on the plastic.

wet sand if u know how or grab a buffer and some polishing compound and go nuts... my civic has ****ty lenses and it took me 20 minutes woth of buffing and they became soo clear... the light output was greatly magnified
