Sticky this... Water Leak fix EG

This is my last time writing this up. So mods please sticky this somewhere.

If your EG has a water leak, your not alone. Honda did a recall to fix it for free.
Anyways, I am not sure if honda will still fix for free unless you make your voice heard. Here is the warrenty recall information...

Pic is blury, so i typed up what it says word for word under pic.

Bulletin No.
92-050
Issue date
feb 3, 1997
Mode [NEW]
1992 and later civic
Applicable to [NEW]
ALL
File Under
BODY
Water leak from seam under corner of dash
(supersedes 92-050, dated may 15,1995)
Symptom
A water leak into the footwell under the left or right corner of the dash.
PROBABLE CAUSE
Not enought sealer on the cowl side of the panel-to-bulkhead seam.

Here are some pics to help you get an idea of whats what.

Here is the hood cowl

Here is a closeup of the cowl as you can see, there is black gritty looking ****, which is the silicone caulk.

bahahaha! sweet!
if you take the w/s wipers, that black dowel cover, and the fender off yourself its only 40$!!
i made the appointment just now

the reason its so expensive is they charge 2 hours labour to remove the bumper and fender. why they remove the bumper i dont know, cause you can get the fender off without takin the bumper off

Both of my cars do this and it drips on my shoes and in my sandals. I taked to the guy at honda. He said to me that if i don't have a factory recall from the dealership that MADE my car they won't fix it.

Does this apply to EF's as well? was there a recall on EF's? When I leave my left side vent in he 'open or outside air' position and it rains it leaks in my car and drips just below steerinf column onto my feet. Is this this same problem? Can i fix it the same way?

i fixed mine myself. its pretty gheto but has held up for two years. i just used silicone bathroom cocking to seal water out. does the same job, and a tube costs less then 5 bux. never had the leak ever again.

why go through all that hastle. if your realy iffy get a tube of urethane and fix it.

$200 plus is retarted to pay when its an easy fix

I have this problem on my EG too, looking at the diagram are they putting the foam around the window edge all the way down to where? the bumper of the car?

I want to do this to mine, and try some cocking I have as EH_94_Civic said he did and it worked.
