i am using an intergra rims on my civic right now, the cleaning coat start to peeling off and it looks crap....

can i remove the cleaning coat and poilsh the rims by myself?

anyone here can tell me how to do it?

i don't want to pay $300 to renew the rims when the rims only costs $300-$400

Use fine, fine sand paper. Use 300 to get rid of the coat, then 600 to remove all scratch. Go to Canadian tire and by alumimum polish, a few steps of it. Then just use a drill and a polish brush and polish up thoe babies. I did this to a set of GSR blades, and I got 200$ more selling them, then buying them, because they have zero scratches. Took me 10 hours or so.

You will have to use heavy duty paint stripper to get rid of the clear coat, it's hard as hell to sand off you'll be there forever.

hey there, i polished my hammerheads for my integra. they were pretty messed up. this is what you have to do: first. get a heavy duty paint stripper like that aircraft paint remover ****, or if not you can use this Polly super stripper stuff i bought from crappy tire. you may have to use a couple of coats of this stuff. paint it on the rims with a brush:

once you let all the clearcoat bubble up, scrape all that stuff off. then for the remainding clearcoat, go at it with some fine steel wool to get the rest off.

next. depending on how oxidized your rims are, start wetsanding the rim starting with 400 gritt, then move on to 800, then 1000 gritt, then 1500 gritt then 2000. now i've been told that all these different grains are not nessasary, however this is what i did.

after you sand with all of the different grits of sand paper, then take some mother's alunimum polish and begin working it into the metal until it turns black. then with a clean cloth, buff it off, and it'll come out nice and shiney.

is it possible to use a dremel or any other power rotary tools to make the process easier ?

^there might be, however it requires alot of wetsanding to get them to look shiney. wetsanding and power tools don't mix..lol. it took me about 7-8hrs each wheel from start to finish while watching t.v and being distracted..lol.

Can you polish any wheel to get the shiny look?

holy shiet nice job man...one question i have SIRs the clear coat is still good but if i use that alunimum polish would it shine it up nice?

Questionf what if your rims were once painted and theres no clear coat on them, will it turn out the same?

Work in progress:D...ive taken off the clear coat and im going to start sanding tomorrow hopefully, just 1 question...once the clear coat is stripped, you dont need to add the clear again? only polish right? Someone please advise....
