New car...Engine light on

New car...Engine light on

This thread also regards to my new car....honda civic...the ENGINE CHECK light is on.....is their any way to reset or check the problem....
its my first car..and im a little 2 minded if it was a good buy or not....
its a 96 civic lx
4dr manual....
250k on stock engine...
no rust at all....fully clean....
their only a little dent and scrathes on one side....and the engine light is on...
soemtimes when its part their a little cranking type of sound like their is something untighten....when i accelarate but then it goes away...also when its in gear....but sometimes...

go to a shop...or even a partsource store for that matter (since they do it no charge) and get them to check the OBD2 computer to find out the problem. Go from there. at least this way you will have an idea when u have to bring the car to a shop.

you need to pull a fuse in the hood fuse box to reset the light. I forgot which one though... for 1700 its bound to have problems.

the ecu fuse will reset the code. However IF there is a problem IT WILL come back

^ exactly. best bet is to get it checked out, let them reset it, see if the light comes back, if it comes back on, go to the shop and tell them the area of the problem since u know the code etc.

cant you just tap in and see whats causing the problem with an obd2 reader?

you can jump a service connector to get the codes for FREE.

do a search and you will find it.
