lol i did that to mine... didn't read a diy or anything i didn't even know there was one. I did it differently though. But none the less i like how it looks. I have alot of type r black with red stitching things in my car so it blends in very nicely. I don't think its ghetto or anything. I just couldn't find any aftermarket knob that i liked. i didn't mind the stock one so i spruced it up alittle.

FWIW, that's been on Honda-Tech for a year or so, maybe more, but the guy says it's still going strong. That being the guy who did it "first" not that guy... so. Those who are wondering, it has passed the test of time so far.
