fixing broken angel eyes this in on an ef

9 Attachment(s)
tools u wil need are

1 flathead screwdriver
1 star screwdriver
1paint removal heat gun
4 new led's
1socket set

1st off remove the headlights from the car

Attachment 43498

then i removed all the brackets atatched 2 the rear headlight all the bulbs and wires
Attachment 43499

then go get the heat gun

Attachment 43500

and prasead 2 warm up all the glue along the whole seem between the 2 parts of the light the black and the clear

Attachment 43501

but dont do it 2 mutch in 1 spot or the heat cun wil melt the plastik

It may be an idea u use some gloves 4 this part i dident and i could hardly hold the headlight after heating it up :)

(or u could put it in the oven) i dident have that option here

once the glue is hot u can slowly pry the seem apart but it must be hot orit wont move

dont put 2 mutch preasure on the scrwerdiver if its 2 hard 2 open u need more heat

as u get 1 part open go along with the screwdriver opening the edges more whilst useing the heat gun 2 aid in the seperation

if the glue cools it wil become hard again

once u seperate the 2

Attachment 43502

then remove the ring from the molded plastik and the 2 leds should easily come out

they are often cheeply made u can see the bad tapeing job that was done back in indaneezia or werever this crap was made

i got my led's from futurshop they were expensive but eh they were 25$ for 4 of them

Attachment 43503

they come in many different colours most angel eyes come with white bulbs but they kinda look blueish whilst driveing

install the new led's u just purchased

Attachment 43504

Attachment 43505

befor u put the headlight all back together u should test the led's 2 make sure u dident buy a dud

Attachment 43506

repeat the process and test again

then its a simple case of putting it all back together

some people use silicone wen puting it back together 2 prevent leaks and the lamp fogging up i dident do this i just heated up the glue again and then stuck the front lenz back on

i find the led's burn out prety fast depending on use and if u use silecone its a ***** 2 get apart again later :)

so im just going 2 run a small beed of silicone around the edge once its all cooled down just so its easy 2 remove later

and finaly test and install back in the car :)

o yea if u are doing ihis on an ef ahhaha good ****ing luck geting the headlights out that screw underneath is a ****ing hore 2 get out :)

imported_doggy69247 04-Dec-2006 10:06 PM

yea dont point the heat gun at the carpet :) it burns its freezin outside thats why im in the basement :)

Eurotuner00 04-Dec-2006 11:04 PM

would the LED halo thingie pop or shadder or break whatever if u put them in the oven for like 3 mins at 300F...im just wondeing if its easier w the gun or the oven but im scared that my halo ring will break form the heat form the oven lol cuzz my headlgith skeeps on fogging up liek a ***** its pissign me off now i got a layer of frozen water n ice inside of it

Eurotuner00 04-Dec-2006 11:05 PM

oh ya btw really nice DIY descrition

bbarbulo 04-Dec-2006 11:16 PM

great DIY

imported_doggy69247 05-Dec-2006 01:02 AM

no its made of plastik it wil not shatter :)

u just want the glue 2 be warm so its kinda a race against time be4 it cools off :) be4 u get it apart :)

what i forgot 2 do on this is its jeneraly the rezistor not the actual led that blows so if u can put the rezistor on the outside of the headlight then u can replace it wen it burns out without all this trouble :)

if u are realy afraid of it braking u can use the gun its less heat that wil go on the ring but im not woried about it this is the 2nd set i have done and the others went in the oven

Eurotuner00 05-Dec-2006 08:55 AM

lol thx alot man and i kow its a race agains time w the glue i did a pair of stock S2000 headlights using the oven lol it worked out just fine but the damn glue got all over the counter lol.....what kinda omh resistor did u use thx again

looked ok but it left gaps :) needs more leds in the rope :)

the thing nobody realises is that the under car neyons have 2 be super ****ing bright inorder 2 be seen all these led ones for 100$ and so on are absalute crap unless u are parked on a country road were there aint a light 4 30 miles u aint going 2 see it :)

Eurotuner00 13-Dec-2006 07:49 PM

I've had my angeleyes for almost as long as i've had my car.....3 years now just about... and they havn't burned out since.... but i find that i don't use them all the time... i have my halos hooked up to a switch in my car.... i tend to have them off but when i feel like showing off alittle i turn them on... plus its good to turn them off when you see cops up ahead... cause i mean those kinda flashy things just attracts them like moths to a flame... but since they aren't always on at night and i have the option i think that is one of the reasons why its lasted me so long...

heres a pic of the switch... i made it myself... i tried to make it look stock as if it came like that in the car.... also heres a pic of the angeleyes... mmmm sexy... lol
