How does this hold up over time. Does it flake or chip easy?

I've seen quite a few crappy valve cover paint jobs, that's why I ask.

FYI I did a little research on VHT paints and found that the following:

VHT Wrinkle Plus paint is rated to 350F / 177C. That seems a little low to me in terms of engine temperatures. VHT Wrinkle Plus™ Coatings

VHT Brake Caliper paint is rated to 900F / 482C. This seems more reasonable to me in terms of engine temps. So this is what I bought.

As an alternative you might want to go with the Engine Enamel 550F or the Engine Metallic 650F. Just my 0.02.

^You should have done more research..

Valvecovers do not require high heat paint. Wrinkle paint was manufactured to recreate OEM valvecover paint..if they thought that it should be a higher temp rating they would have simply adjusted the formulation..instead they kept it the way it is and kept the super high temp paint for the brake calipers..where it IS actually needed.

Go get the wrinkle paint as it completely trumps the effect of regular paint.

Have you used VHT caliper paint on a road course car? In lapping conditions it burns (turns black) and flakes.

FYI there's also a VHT product called "Flameproof" that's over 1000F rated for applications like manifolds and exhausts. But they're all mat finishes.

You can use paint stripper, or if you can get your hands on it, there is a aircraft paint stripper that you put in the paint with a brush, but you need to wear rubber gloves, because it burns your skin if you get it on it. Or you can sand it down like in the old days.
