You're also not supposed to use synthetic on an old engine, if that engine has never used synthetic before. Synthetic will clean out carbon deposits too much, and could result in the same loss in compression.

Now, if only i can tell whether or not my engine will take to synthetic or not... =s

My D16Y7 had almost 250k when I switched to full synth, no problems and over 10 oil changes I gotta try this seafoam stuff, then gonna change the plugs & wires, fuel filter and see if the car runs better/gets better mileage.

hmmm alright..... maybe 212k won't be that bad. But of course, it still does depend on how dirty the engine is to begin with. I dunno how often the previous owner did maintenance.

Do you guys think I can seafoam my 99 si? I have 225k on it. The dude I bought it off took amazing care of it. I have all his service records and he changed the oil very regularly.

Seafoam is great for every age of car.. I have used it on everything. Just because the car was taken car of, doesn not mean that it doesnt have any carbon deposits. Infact I think if it was babied it would have alot more.

DO it.

i'd say maybe once a year... maybe a year and a half there's no real point of constantly doing a seafoam.. once does a gread job... twice kinda no point.. any more than that = complete overkill and retartedness

Retardedness*
I see the irony.

Just playing, (I love how I use a made up word to correct a misspelled made up word)

Back on topic though, Seafoam is great stuff, I've done it to my old integra which had over 290,000 KM at the time, and it went perfectly. All I've gotta say is, take your time and drop it in slowly..I had quite a scare when I dropped a lot of it in and my engine *almost* stalled.

Contemplating on doing this with my car due to the mixed reviews. My car is a 90 Civic Si with a B16 swapped in it. KM's are unknown and not sure how the previous owner took care of the engine. Would you guys recommend?

^I've run this stuff through my b16 with ~240k at the time (now has just over 260k) and it was totally fine. Go for it!

To answer the previous question posted by 95EG, I don't believe it will harm the cat. Just drive the snot out of it afterwards to get it nice and hot, burn it all out.
