First bake the set of lights in the oven,
I left mine in for 5 minz at 250 preheated. Pry open the lights carefully and use a razor blade if nessesary to cut the glue. (these are my other headlights but you get the idea) Attachment 35459 You'll get this after Attachment 35460 Now take apart the housing and for the back of the reflector part you want to mark out somthing like this Attachment 35461 Now get your dremel out with a fiberglass re-enforced cutting disc and dremel away Attachment 35462 Then you'll get this( i cut a litte more material off the lower part for ease of access later when i adjust the screws) Attachment 35463 Attachment 35464 Test fit to see if you need to cut anymore material off. Attachment 35465 Then get some L brackets and cut the corner like so Attachment 35466 Put the L brackets on and mark the holes in the reflector part and drill the holes in the reflector. then you'll get somthing like this Attachment 35467 Then adjust your horizontal adjustments. I used a lazer leveler and leveled the botton of the oval circle of the TSX projectors bowls till they lined up I put 2 bolts at the bottom so if i want to adjust i just move the top bolt till it levels and tighten the 3rd nut on top. Attachment 35468 Attachment 35469 Time to test the horizontal cut off. I used my flashlight and put it where the bulb socket is so i dont' have to use the hid bulb Attachment 35470 Attachment 35471 Perfect Now is the time if you want to black out your housing. When i got my housing, the previous person had clear them. For legal purposes i wanted the orange reflector in there so i get less hassel from cops in the future. I poped out the white reflector and painted it with translousant orange glass paint which you can get at the hobbie store. Attachment 35472 Attachment 35473 Attachment 35474 Now it's time for the shrouds I used the top plastic peice for garden lamps from your local candian tire Attachment 35475 Cut the top off with a razor blade Attachment 35476 I used a pvc pipe with a thermos mug ring for the mid section Attachment 35477 Then you'll get somthing like this when you put it all together Attachment 35478 Attachment 35479 I just threw the peices together and see how it looks Attachment 35480 Attachment 35481 Ahh looks good, More to come soon as this project is not finished. come back soon! |

this guy's PROSTAR!!!
mooshu...do you have a DIY for 99-00 headlights? also what did you do for the back? I hope you didn't use a cottage cheese container lol |
dude thats SWEEET!!!! how much you charge to do installs ? :)
|
This DIY should apply to all generation of headlights that are reflector type.
For the back of this, I will try and use the stock rubber boots as it looks like it won't be a problem. For my 92-94 civic tsx retro fit i didn't even have a back and had no issues with moisture or condensation. Had that on for about 1.5 years. Only a tiny bit dusty on the housing part. I'm currenly not doing retro's for anyone as this is just a hobbie that i do for myself. But alot of people has been asking me to do it for them. We'll see how it goes as i don't have too much time on the weekdays to do it. Only on the weekends. If anything i'll post some info if i will do it or not =) |
where r u located i wana see this in person .
|
I'm everywhere lol but i'll take pics when i finish adjusting, mounting, sealing.
It's going to go on a 4 door civic btw |

You can find the travel mugs at candian tire too.
You can just slide the chrome ring on top of the 2.5 inch pcv pipe reducer and then JB weld it on. |
did you spray paint the housing black?
|
Yup, I used flat black high temp bbq paint
|
AAMZING.. great work guy..
