I just remembered reading about this a long while ago and now since I have to do some touch up painting this will be very helpful. Now I have the same question as Buddhafest. Where can I get that primer.

The etch primer I use in those photos is from paint circuit, but the last batch I had used from them was terrible, it ended up screwing some of my paint articles and i had a similar friend who experienced the same thing using that batch of cans,

I no longer use that primer, really you can use any etch primer, there is one from canadian tire that is similar, they only cost about 6-8 bucks a can, as well they come usually in 3 colors, grey, reddish-brown or black. As well standard primers are fine as well, they have a good sandable and layer building substance.

the best primer i used is usually the plastic primer but depends what your painting and last time i went to ct they no longer carry the motomaster plastic clear primer anymore.

also if your masking anything or tarping the car off, i would recomment to use electrical tape as the main layer of the paint of the car and then masking tape overlapping on top of the masking tape since masking tape can leave the glue resideue and electrical does not

Common mistake that I covered in one of the paint sessions but is often missed and a beginner mistake that i have made myself when I first began. So basically you can mask the Trunk and any side moulding trim or rear lip

also i included a photo below that illustrates with what areas you could mask or and shouldnt.

should i wet sand it all off and redo it or can i just apply coats on top of it tomorrow?

anyways here's a pic of my finished product before i wetsanded it around the edges with 2000grit.

photo...
Thanks.

for the most part is worked out great but i just have one question. It's most likely an error on my part some how but i masking-taped off the area i was spraying so i didn't over spray but there seems to be a border between the paint and where the masking tape used to be as i peeled it back.

What did i do wrong? how can i fix it? it feels kinda rough so it's not anything to do with mismatching colours
any help or insight you can give me will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Anonymous

for tiny rust spots, it depends maybe, but you may want to rework the rust first.

What about something like this? Should I just sand it down, then prime it, and respray it?

great wright up man. In the pictures above, it looks like the clear coat is coming off, if so, it's best to get it repainted, but you cut wet sand it, and then buff is back to a shine.

ya this was done all within a couple of hours as the car was being sold the next day, i dont have an orbital sander or buffer so it was all done by hand, as for the haze you can see it a bit, but it was minor.
