DIY - EG Black Housing Headlight
Get your self some Black paint and Silicone. I used KRYLON FUSION for Plastic. you dont need to sand or prime. was like $6.88. and Mastercraft Window and Door Silicone for like $3.29.
http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a88...Picture185.jpg http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a88...Picture190.jpg From there. pull out your headlights. you dont have to remove your bumper. but it does make it ez'er. 5 screws on the top and 2 in the fender wells remove the bumper. dont forget to take off the 5 metal clips on the headlights. http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a88...Picture174.jpg preheat your oven to 325C and stick your headlight (I did one at a time) for 5-8 mins. take a flat screwdriver and pry them apart. http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a88...Picture176.jpg http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a88...Picture177.jpg Get some tape and news paper and tape up the part you dont want sprayed. http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a88...Picture180.jpg http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a88...Picture181.jpg http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a88...Picture182.jpg From there. clean em down with some paint thinner or something like that. let them dry and spray em. I gave them a good 5-6 coats to get them covered nice. http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a88...Picture183.jpg http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a88...Picture184.jpg Let them dry. Mine was an hour. put some Silicone around the housing and put them glass back on. (I left the old Silicone on) and dont forget the 5 metal clips. http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a88...Picture186.jpg http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a88...Picture187.jpg http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a88...Picture188.jpg http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a88...Picture189.jpg After there installed.. (yes, my corner signals didnt fit well) http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a88...Picture191.jpg http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a88...Picture192.jpg http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a88...Picture197.jpg http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a88...Picture198.jpg and heres EF headlights too. http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a88...Picture139.jpg |

^^ there ya go..
so if i do as you posted i'll b able to get that off the inside>?
I'm not to sure about doing it with them..
the OEM lights are glass.. yours are plastic.. might warp or brake trying too. EDIT*.. I think I have seen someone take the TYC's apart before, not sure how they did it though.. |
i was going to say, i dont think it'll work.
but the person before me used this silicon, but i could use a knife and cut thru it and prolly take it off. the only thing on them is the silver clasps and the silicone.. what do you RECOMMEND? |
would it be the same process for an ek?
^^ yes.
put it in the oven @ 325degrees for 5 mins... you mean the whole headlight housing? it has some plastic in it... will the heat warp the plastic? or worse melt it? sorry noob question
no, it wont melt or warp anything.. just dont leave it in there for half an hour.. lol
I used a heat a gun for mine. Worked great.
