DIY - EF Black Housing Headlights
Get your self some Black paint and Silicone. I used KRYLON FUSION for Plastic. you dont need to sand or prime. was like $6.88. and Mastercraft Window and Door Silicone for like $3.29.
http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a88...Picture185.jpg http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a88...Picture190.jpg From there. pull out your headlights. you have to remove your bumper. 2 screws in each fender well and 2 bolts behind each bumper lights. once you have the lights out. tap the 6 metal clips off with a flat head screw driver. DO NOT try to pry them off. (Sorry Derek!, I fixxed it. Kinda?) preheat your oven to 325-350C and stick your headlight (I did one at a time) for 5-6 mins. take a flat screwdriver and pry them apart. http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a88...Picture134.jpg Get some tape and news paper and tape up the part you dont want sprayed. http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a88...Picture136.jpg From there. clean em down with some paint thinner or something like that. let them dry and spray em. I gave them 3-4 coats to get them covered nice. http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a88...Picture137.jpg Let them dry. Mine was an hour. put some Silicone around the housing and put them gas back on. (I left the old Silicone on) and dont forget to put the 6 metal clips back on. put them back on the car and injoy! Installed back on the car. http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a88...Picture139.jpg Took us about 1 1/2 hours from start to finsh. |

:leafs: hey i have a 93 4 door you think i can do this to thows head lights ??? and is this **** risky ?? puting a light in the oven lol can i use a heat gun ????? some one help the newbi
|
yes. you can do a 93 4door. and no its not risky. just dont leave them in to long. and I highy dout a heatgun will do much.
|
thanx for that how long is the max i should leave them in for 5 min and by the way is your civic on air ride cuz i meet some one thats civic that looks like yours in your pic ???
|
yeah. around 5-6 mins depends on the temp. keep it arould 325-350 and you'll be fine. it helps to have 2 people when opening the headlights. one to pull them apart and one to pry with a flat tip screw driver.
and yes. my civics on air ride. did the guy have a mohawk by any chance?. lol. cuz that would be me. |
YES! Imma gunna go this tonight!
Did it stink up your house much? (from the oven) |
Nope. just dont leave it in to long.
|
mark wanna re-do my headlights?
maybe just one, and swap one old one in :) |
