DIY- EF black bumper lights.
 

This here's for the EF sedan.
Things I used that I had around the house.

I used the Tremclad gloss, because I deleted the reflectors (dont need it anyways, the bulb lights up the area just fine) and it's self levelling so you dont need to worry about streaking or whatever. A foam brush works, which is what I used, and dabbed the paint on and let it settle. I painted the entire inside.

After removing the marker light, pull the lens off and clean everything. To remove the little 3/4 squares pull the sides so they bend a bit and just pop the square out. Thats the easiest way.

-After doing so and cleaning everything, I started cleaning the lens which had been abused by sand etc with some rubbing compound to try to make it clearer. I put a block inside a rag so it's easier on the hands. I rubbed it out 3 times with the compound inside and out. After each time wash the old compound off and start the next layer of compound.
-After using compound I used the #9, gave it one good rub (this really makes all the difference and removes haze), rinse when done.
-Then used detail spray cuz I was lazy and didnt wanna bother with finding wax in my big box of stuff. Works fine. And smells like cinnamin.
Here's 1 lens done, compared to the one untouched, just washed.

Anyways, both done, ready to go back onto the housing.

Onto the paint, open can, dab it all over the inside of the housing. That's it. I didnt even let it dry fully, just to tacky and reassembled. It's gonna sit over night so it'll be fine. This paint wont come off with the heat of the bulbs, unless maybe its those high wattage ones, but those will melt the plastic so. Anyways, here's some assembled pics.

As they blink I cant really get a picture, so I took a really quick video clip for you guys. Not the best quality, just to get an idea. *note: the camera only picks up the concentrated light for some reason, it actually is a smidge brighter than it appears in the vid*

iv seen them on and they are just as bright as they were before if not more since the lens is more clear now. and the black paint is reflective

looks awesome dude i love the EF style, i have a 91 Hatch. i gonna try this on mine.

heres a side by side view of the clear and blacked out bumper lights... oldspower helped me buff out my lens's looks nice now.

It's not completely finished though.

You could have painted the rear edge of the clear plastic lens black for a better look without the clear plastic distracting you from the dark part, or used black silicone to seal them around the edges and provide the darker effect.
