I've found that if your engine compartment isn't too dirty or grungy, then a can of Motomaster Foaming Engine Cleaner works great without any scrubbing needed. You spray it on and it foams up like a think oven cleaner. Leave it on for 15 min, then just rinse it off.

Great write up!

When I cleaned my engine bay, I used a degreaser, let it sit for about 15mins and just wiped it down with a cloth.

Hey, quick question guys, one of my buddies told me that I can turn on the degreaser function at the Canadian Tire self service car wash and just spray it over the engine, no need to cover anything up, but leaving the engine running....I'd like some second opinion on that please. Appreciate your help, thanks in advance.

leave the engine running, you gotta be kidding me, alternator with fry if you put watter on it. or any electronics under the hood, i could be wrong but i left my turned off, and wait another hr after i was done so everything kinda gets dry out. and came out super clean.

If you dont cover your alternator your car dies on you? Or you just need a new alternator?

my guess is that if things are running, or maybe even if it's hooked up to the battery, you could cause a short and blow some fuses by getting water in it.. and also parts of it could corrode as the water dries.

Hey I bought a bottle of "Simple Green" to clean out my engine bay, but I've been reading other forums that say Simple Green can corrode aluminum. I just bought the all purpose cleaner from Canadian tire.

Anyone else not recommending Simple Green?

Im actually looking for Meguiars Cleaning products, but cant seem to find them around here.

thanx

i think the simpl green is fine i used it everything is fine, rather i sprayed let sit for 2 min and scrubbed with a car wash broom scrub thing, and rinsed out everything and mines came out good

it may look dirty to some of you but under the ood was filthy, you can see that its pretty clean now, and although my engine is kind of corroded it was alot worse before
