DIY Blackhousing Headlights - Large PICS
#42
I got a question....... Now I don't own a civic (I own a saturn, but please don't hate )
Now to my question, are civics headlight assemblys glass or plastic?
Cause on my saturn the headlight is plastic, therefore I have some concern about if it'll melt or not at 250 degrees for 10 minutes.
I really want to do this mod, but I'm a lil worried....... But it looks really good, keep up the good work
Also, for anybody else thinking about doing this, they could use some model car paint, like a clear candy apple red or smoke colors, its cheap and it looks great like a red or black tinted chrome.

i did this mod to my 99 hx using tcc write up so i had 2 sign up 2 leave a reply to this mod..
overall the instructions are mint! thumbs up!
my handywork came out ok..the oven method is the best way to do this..the only problem i did have was sealing the lights back together, that silcone is a pain in the *** though, nevermind the clean up involved because of it just the removal of the glob'd was a pain...the overall project can be very time consuming if your picky like me and want to remove all that crap, but it's kinda tough to seal the lights back in the groove without removing all the silcone.....other than that they look great
thanks

For the oven method, 250 is not always the exact temperature you should use. I found 150 - 200 was more ideal then 250 since my oven is a bit different from others. So it depends on what type of oven. (Refering to size and blah blah blah)
