DIY 96-05 cluster removal and re install

DIY FOR 96-05 GAUGE CLUSTER REMOVAL AND RE INSTALL
1. Unscrew the 2 screws at the top of the gauge cluster.
2. Start pulling the black trim off from the top so you'll have some finger room to yank the whole thing off. There are two clips and some glue that attaches the trim to the cluster at the bottom. The trim seems pretty strong and bendable, but be careful not to break it anyhow. Something that may help is if you stick the screwdriver at the bottom of the trim, to give it some separation from the dash.
3. After you get the black trim off, you will see the gauge cluster attached to the dash by 4 screws for ek model and 3 screws for the ep, em and es models. 1 up top and two at the bottom corners and the ek has it on all 4 corners. Unscrew them and pull the cluster towards you from the top.
4. Remove the blue and green connectors and take out the gauge cluster. Should probably bring the whole thing inside to avoid wind and dust. Your might have an orange and a yellow connector aswell which are for abs and airbag.

straight forward.
just take out the bulbs from behind the cluster and either put a blue condom on the bulbs or put blue bulbs on them.
this might or might now work depending on the cluster face's colour. your might have to end up going led. which is a more complicated process since it involves soldering.

it keeps it in its memory.
i am not 100 percent sure on this but i believe the odometer is not what holds the actual information i believe its the ecu and as soon as you plug it in the odometer on the cluster reads what the ecu has.
as for the analog 88-00 ones they remain on the odometer only.

i replaced my OEM white bulbs with LEDs but the output was minimal...i guess cuz the LEDs were shooting in a single direction only and bulbs in there needs to ****** light.
Where do u get blue condoms anyway? The OEM condoms in my EK were blue but the output was white.
