How to install Front Grille:

Remove front bumper (do not have to take the whole bumper off)

remove top clips on the grille

remove clip on the bumper (both left and right)

remove the two screws (phillips head) on both sides of the wheel housing

peel bumper down without removing the bumper *(be careful not to break it)look inside the bumper you will see the oem grille being held up by 6 or 7 screws

Using a phillips headscrew driver remove them and pull grille out of the bumper

for install its the reverse installation.
i dont take off the bumper because that way it saves alot of time and you dont have to get under the car and get dirty. also you can always use the car to drive around incase you need to pick up something while the grille is off.

aftermarket grilles do not have the lower screws mounted to them like the oem does to the bumper all you do is insert all the top clips on and thats the only thing that holds it. downside to this is that the lower part of the grille will be sticking out to eliminate that i recommend 1 urathane glue the bottom part to the bumper or zip tie it using a skinny black zip tie to the rad support.

isnt, 99-00 is diffrent then 96-98 :)

cus i did my 99 drill and it doesnt come off the bumper the actual grill fram itself, i had to cut the oem plastic from the fram etc....

Xscorpio 12-Jan-2006 10:21 PM

but never the less same idea, great write up

96-98 and 99-00 only have appearance differances.

96-00 are all the same in terms of how to take it off and how to go about meshing your own grill or installing an aftermarket one.

something is wrong with your bumper or you did it wrong. maybe even an aftermarket grille was used on your car. i have done over a 1000 front bumpers from 96-00 civic from when i worked at honda till now and they are all the same.

maybe i did it wrong, oh well it worked for me, and looks great :)

jay have u seen my grille tho?, i guess thats how it should be, check it out and let me konw what you think.

thx
