DIY: 2001-2005 Deck Install ... (Done on an Acura 1.7 EL)

This thread will be updated very shortly as i need to upload alot of pictures and create a step by step procedure! Chack back in a bit!

You must remove these two screws located at the back of the centre console.

You must remove the mid section of the console located infront of the e-break. I used the change holder (?? larger red circle) as leverage to remove this. There are two screws that need to be removed (located at the two smaller red circles).

You must remove the cig lighter panel/seat heater. To do this there are clips outlined above that must be removed. Using a flat head screw driver does the trick. At this point the entire centre console can be removed and set aside.

Now there are two screws holding the deck and cd sleve into place below the deck. This is accessable from the removed cig lighter/seat heater panel at 270 degrees from the bottom of the deck. Be sure to remove the wires by unclipping them from the buttons.

Here is a better picture of below the Deck (sorry for the blur) area where the screws are. They are pretty easy to get at if you go upside down.

Now that the bottom is unscrewed you can take off the panel that holds the deck. Notice where the red circles are is there you have to unclip everything.

After the deck is out detack all controls from their harnessess and remove the dials. There will be four screws holding the deck and tray into place, remove these to detach the deck. You can now replace the insert with an aftermarket deck mounting kit. I used one that fits a 2001-2001 Civic.

Using the stock screw bracket, the aftermarket deck can be mounted into place.

Ensure that you connect the proper wiring harness to the decks harness. Again I used one that fits a 2001-2002 Civic. The above picture is the stock deck harness thats hardwired into the car.

Thanks for the guide, just installed a radio in my sis' 2001 Civic and this helped tremendously.
