d16z6 into 1990 dx hatch
I am thinking of doing this swap. I was told the motor will drop right in, but what about the trans. I know I will need axels, and a cpu, what about wiring? is there a harness for this swap? or at least a how to.
Thanks. |
the install is straight forward, motor / tranny / axles / linkage should be fine. the wiring is another story ... find a jumper harness if your not experienced with wiring

Z6 motor and use the stock tranny, you wont need to swap all the axles, linkage and or the tranny, dunno which fly wheel to use tho.
now for the ecu. i think you can keep it running OBD0 instead of going OBD1, which i think you would use your stock distributer ecu etc.... and run a seperate vetc controller, or vafc. zeeman is the best to ask. this is all i know of im still trying to understand this but im sure thats a good idea. correct me if i am wrong. |
i did that swap back in the day i used my 89si trans axles and wiring and you can run a vafc for the vtec or just a cheap vtec controller
only thing is that you have to run your coolent temp sensor to a different location as its different on the z6 if its 93-95 92 is the same as the 88-91`s |
ok here are the items I have so far.
I picked up the z6 motor, and ecu. If i can use my trans and axels, that would be great. the z6 trans ,clutch and axels are toast, not sure about the flywheel. |
I hate to jack this thread, but I'm thinking of doing the same thing, I can use my stock D16A6 tranny with it right? Does Vtec have to be hooked up right away? Or Can I do that at a later date?
